4 Months Old Already!!

Avery went for his four month check up this week. He is now 12 lbs 4 oz and 23 1/2 " long. My little Jelly Bean has only gained 2 oz in a month, so the doctor thought that I should maybe start him on a bit of rice cereal...So that's what we have done...and he LOVES it!
He is such a little character! Legs and arms are always flailing around, and there is always a story consisting of coos and shreaks.

And the Chaos Continues!

Thursday Evan woke up with a bunch more bites. I am so at a loss for an explanation. I have gone over his room with a fine toothed comb and there isn't a dust bunny, never mind an insect to be found! He must be getting them in the evening, and they aren't showing up until morning. Anyway, two of his bites this time were around his right eye. One on the cheek bone just below his eye. This one got angry very fast. By noon it looked like Evan had been on the receiving end of a good punch! (I have been taking pictures of it, so as soon as I download them I will post some). I was able to use my connections to get him into see the doctor, who was already double and triple booked for the day. The Dr. said it looked infected and gave him an Rx for some antibiotics, which already seem to be doing the trick. Will the chaos ever end!!??!!

Our New Addition to the Family!

Last Thursday we welcomed a new addition to the McGifford house. Here she is!! Isn't it exciting? Dan and I are having so much fun competing for best times and most kms in 30 min! My hands look like road kill though. I have blisters on top of blisters! I was just about to take a picture of them to show you all, but the battery is dead, so as soon as it is charged I will be sure to post a picture so you can see just how hard core I am. So far I have rowed 22.85 km and Dan has done 22.31 km...I am totally kicking his ass! Just kidding. Stay tuned for updates!

The Story of Evan and the Spider...

Last Friday Evan woke up with two spider bites. I thought nothing of it at first...that is until one started to swell and get redder and hotter. So I went on a spider hunt...yes...me, the one who is deathly afraid of spiders. So anyway, I managed to catch the nasty thing in a glass (I get chills just thinking about it). When I put Evan down for his morning nap, I hopped on line to see if I could identify the spider. I found a picture of one that looked the same as my captive, and it said it was a hobo spider...which is poisonous and can cause big nasty blisters that open and then you have a beautiful oozing ulser sore...nice. Oh, I think i failed to mention that the bite was on his left temple...very frightening. So I woke him up from his nap and rushed him to the emergency room...where we waited two and a half hours to see a doctor, who gave him some benadryl, which did the trick. Talk about a waste of time and energy, but I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

Air Show - not quite as entertaining as one would hope...

We took the boys down to the lake to see the air show on Friday. Truth be told it was rather disappointing, but the boys seemed to enjoy it. Maybe the fact that it was over in 10 minutes was a good thing so the boys didn't have time to lose interest!
